Procrastination is the Thief of Time

Have you ever came up with a goal you wanted to achieve? You come up with  a well thought out blueprint and you say ” I’ll get to it tomorrow.” This is procrastination at its finest people… Wake up and get to it! Don’t put off what you can do today for tomorrow. Many see the old fable “The  Tortoise and the Hare” as a story of underestimating your opponent. This may be true to some extent but the Hare really procrastinated in this situation. At one point the Hare put an astronomical distance between himself and the Tortoise. The Hare should have finished the race then took his nap after he crossed the finish line. Well we all know what really happened and that consequently cost the Hare the race.

As you can see Procrastination is the enemy of success even in the simplest of task don’t wait on it… go get it. The first thing that popped in your head is good things come to those who wait, but how often does that work out? Trust me it rarely happens. So be proactive not passive when it comes to achieving your goals, dreams, or any task/endeavor that is set before you. Christopher Parker once said ” Procrastination is like a credit card: its a lot of fun until you get the bill.”

Big Seans HOF Throwaway

Last night, Big Sean decided to stir up the internet by going on twitter and releasing one of his songs that didn’t make the album, “Control” featuring Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica. After hearing this 7 min phenom I had the Will Smith stare and said to myself this don’t sound like a throwaway, but due to sample clearance problems this song didn’t make the album but may show up as a bonus track. This song definitely raises the bar for rap.

Big Sean went in talking about how he’s taking over and how he’s pushing to be the best in the game.

Kendrick murdered the song, talking about how he’s in control of the rap game being mentioned with the greats and informing his fellow rappers that rap is a competition, that he takes serious. Even name dropping your favorite new MC’s including Big Sean and Jay Electronica.

Jay Electronica finishes the song off talking about how he’s the known unknown creeping up on the game.  Unfortunately this verse gets drowned out because of Kendrick’s verse.

HOF drops August 27th and will be an album work getting. If this song doesn’t inspire you to bring your A game I don’t know what will.

Jay-Z Returns with Magna Carta Holy Grail

If you were watching game five over the weekend, you witness HOV make history, yet again. Debuting his new commercial gave us a hint of what he has planned this summer.

Jay-Z is dropping a new album, titled Magna Carta Holy Grail. That will be available first to one million Samsung Galaxy owners for free if they download the customized Magna Carta app. Jay Z describes the album as being about the duality of how do you navigate your way through this whole thing — through success, through failures, through all this and remain yourself while talking to Def Jam Pioneer and producer Rick Rubin, along with Pharrell, Timbaland and Swiss Beats. Only time will tell what else Jay  has in store, all I know is he continues to the push the envelope and lead the forefront of ReBels with a cause.

Sir Charles turns 50

This week has been a great week for basketball. First we had the All-Star game on the same day as the G.O.A.T’s Bday, MJ. But today is also a special day for another great who we consider a reBel, Sir Charles. Today Charles Barkley, the reBel PF, turns 50 and I wanted to share my top 3 memories from Barkley.

1. Shut Up and Jam– Growing up one of my favorite video games was Barkley Shut Up and Jam. I always used Sir Charles and and Spike. Always wondered why they never put a court in Alabama tho.

2. He’s not my Role Model– His I’m not a Role model commercial may have rubbed people the wrong way but that was Charles being himself.  Something you have to appreciate.

3. Air CB34A must have to any shoe collection to make it legit is a pair of Barkley’s. Anything from Air Force 180 to a pair of Air CB34. These shoes are comfortable, sleek and timeless.

Barkley wasn’t the ideal player but he did it his way. Barkley was a undersized 6’4 PF that played like a giant and that gave his all on the court. He also changed basketball from a media stand point with his funny and controversial commentary, but necessary because he inspired athletes to speak there mind on how they feel. Still entertaining to this day, you can catch him on TNT on Thursday with his co hosts, EJ, Kenny and Shaq. A man of many alias’s Sir Charles, Round Mound of Rebound, Chuck , CB etc. but still the same funny and in your face. Happy Bday Charles!!!
